2018 "Fred" Estate Syrah

Full ruby-red color. Slightly wild scents of blackberry, black pepper and smoked meat. Bigger and somewhat sweeter and easier on entry than the Boushey Vineyard example, projecting a slightly high-toned ripeness to its dark berry, spice, cedar and floral flavors. There's just a bit more texture and stuffing here to buffer the wine's rather powerful tongue- and toothdusting tannins. This, too, is a substantial, concentrated wine with serious potential longevity. The nose of the Boushey Syrah is more perfumed and complex but this wine is sweeter and suppler.
