Aromas of wet stone graphite, apple blossom open up to flavors of bright Asian pear, and bergamot citrus notes remain high in the palate and end with a slight note of hazelnut.
William Kelly of the Wine Advocate, “A blend of 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc, the 2015 Artist Series Morris Blend reproduces on its label an oil painting by the American Abstract Impressionist painter Carl Morris. The wine offers up attractive aromas of crushed cassis, pencil shavings and toasted gingerbread, followed by a medium to full-bodied, velvety palate with a deep core of savory fruit and youthfully chewy structuring tannins. The finish is long and nicely delineated. This was my favorite of these offerings from àMaurice Cellars, and I'd expect it to reach its peak in the next decade.” 93+PTS

Jeb Dunnuck, “The 2015 Night Owl checks in as a blend of 32% Merlot, 30% Petit Verdot, 26% Cabernet Franc and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, all aged 23 months in 40% new French oak. It has a Saint Emilion-like style in its ripe red and black fruits, cedar pencil, dried earth, and spicy aromas and flavors. With medium to full-bodied richness, no hard edges, and ripe, present tannin, it's a beautiful wine from this team. It’s going to keep for a decade or more.” 94PTS

The 2014 Fred is a brighter and more high toned than its predecessors. It is obvious from the moment it leaves the bottle with its bright red complexion. It still showcases the usual lavender oil and bright nose of the Tablas Creek clone, but it is expressing more red fruit notes. Bouncy and bright in the mouth while round and plush tannins maintain through to the end. Will drink well though 2020.
The inky, glass-staining purple colored 2014 Malbec Estate Amparo (100% Malbec) gives up notes of liquid blackberries and crushed rocks in its rich, medium to full-bodied, beautifully pure style. With nicely integrated acidity and a clean finish, drink it over the coming 4-6 years.

Jasmine leaps out of the glass and fills the nose. This golden yellow elixir is filled with papaya, honeydew melon and soft citrus like Meyer lemon. It is carried by the medium acidity for a white wine. With the same depth of structure as the Sparrow, but the Marsanne is the star. Will drink well through 2022, we will keep you posted if it maintains longer due to the Marsanne.
Nose…….Slight reduction, wet rock and peony flower.
Mouth…..The floral quality pursists in the mouth held up by soft round tannins, medium acidity. We continued to use a spontenous fermentation which in the tanks smells like roast acorn squash with a sprinkle of brown sugar. Although that primary note subsides in the wine, there is an earthy sweet character. We build our wines with bottle age in mind, so please decant. Optimum drinking window is 2020 – 2026.
